Choosing a stamped concrete contractor in Ormond Beach who builds to detail M-7
Look up Standard Construction Detail M-7. That's where Ormond Beach publishes its residential driveway apron. The spec: 6 inches thick, 28 day, 3,000 psi concrete. The base under it gets compacted and tested to 95 percent density with a minimum LBR of 40. If a sidewalk crosses the driveway, it comes out and goes back at 6 inches thick, with 1/2 inch premolded expansion joints. The numbers cover the concrete at the curb. A pattern on an apron has to meet them too.
Nothing opens onto a public road without a permit, either. Land Development Code Sec. 3-25(c)(2) says no curb may be cut or altered and no point of access established until the Site Plan Review Committee approves it and the chief building official issues the permit. On FDOT or county roads, those agencies issue the permit instead. You'll find M-7 on the city's standard details page, next to the sidewalk and ramp details. We pull the right drawing before we price the apron.
